Graphics Card for Computer Gaming

You need two things in order to get your computer gaming PC to work well - a lot of RAM, which is essentially memory storage in the computer, and a good graphics card that will enable you to have the vivid graphics that are displayed on most video games. If you do not have the top of the line when it comes to RAM and graphics card, chances are that your video gaming may suffer. It may crash every few minutes or you may not be able to play certain games. Not fun.

If you take a look at your local computer store, you will find several different graphics cards. These will all claim to be one better than the other. It can be confusing, trying to pick the best graphics card. You are better off to ask for help from the clerk at the store. Tell him or her which game or games you plan to play and allow them to recommend a good graphics card that will work with your PC.

If possible, choose a computer store such as Best Buy to ask this question. The reason for this is that not only are the clerks at Best Buy extremely knowledgeable when it comes to computers, they do not work on commission. It is not, therefore, in their best interest to sell you the most expensive graphics card in the store. And there is no law that says you have to get it from Best Buy, either. You can then take a look around for the best price, including online.

Picking brains of sales personnel at computer stores can be fun, but time consuming. You can also peruse the internet forums and find people who know quite a bit more about computers than you. Some of them are over the age of 12 and are quite familiar with RAM as well as the best graphics cards. They can recite to you the name of different manufacturers and resolutions of each graphics card as well as each computer game. Years ago, young boys knew statistics of baseball games and players. Today, they know computers. The computer knowledge is very useful, however, and will serve these young people well in years to come.

There are two different types of graphics cards. These are called ATI and NVIDIA. Most computers will take either, but you need to make sure that your computer will support both before purchasing the card. Again, you can find out about this online in chatrooms or forums. You can even ask on Yahoo Answers as there are many people on there who are eager to share their knowledge with you but are not looking to make a commission on a sale.

Make sure that you find the best graphics card that will work for your computer gaming PC and the games that you play and then look for the best deal. Once you know what you need, the rest is easy. You simply have to look for the best price.
